Biyamiti Bushveld Camp
On the banks of the Mbiyamiti river, hidden by Delagoa thickets, nestles one of the most beautiful bushveld camps in the Kruger National Park.
The camp is ideally situated between huge Wild Fig and Jackalberry trees with vast numbers of other fauna and flora species in abundance. The area is a game spotter’s dream come true.
With walls built from authentic buffalo dung, Camp Shawu reflects the Africa described by famous explorers of colonial times. Located in the 20 000 hectare private concession in the south-eastern section of the Kruger National Park, the camp has five large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana Dam. All the rooms are equipped with romantic ball-and-claw baths, a sitting area facing the fireplace, ceiling fans and outside shower. Large verandas provide the ideal location to view the game coming down to the dam to drink. The central facility has a lounge, indoor and outdoor dining area and a splash pool. Camp Shawu offers walking trails on request, where guests can experience a typical old-fashioned safari first-hand. Safaris in open four-wheel-drive vehicles are also available.
Being the northernmost outpost of the Kruger National Park, Punda Maria Rest Camp seems to serve as a first or a last stop for many visitors. But don’t let this turn your stay at this intimate camp into an overnight one, because there are two things that make Punda Maria entirely unique – the accommodation is different from all the other camps and so is the vegetation surrounding the camp.
